This is a free course for all members of the DoBetter Collective community. Please complete this course within 90 days of becoming part of this community.
The BACB® Professional and Ethical Compliance Code (Code) provides Board Certified Behavior Analysts®(BCBAs), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts®(BCaBAs), and Registered Behavior Technicians®(RBTs) with standards to adhere to in order to protect the consumers of behavior analytic services. The current version of the Code has guidelines that could be applicable to an online professional community but there are very few guidelines that clearly apply to this type of environment. The purpose of this webinar is to provide members of The Do Better Collective with some examples of how the Code can be interpreted to interact with an online professional community, how to recognize the difference between disliking someone’s opinion and a potential code violation, how to approach someone who may be engaging in a potential code violation within The Do Better Collective, and how to respond to the possibility of a potential code violation within The Do Better Collective. Additionally, this webinar provides clear expectations and agreements for members of the Community. The webinar concludes by laying the foundation for Community members regarding the critical features of actively participating in a Community that values multiple perspectives and listening to learn. Additional trainings and activities within the Community will build on this foundation.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- Participants will be able to identify at least 3 guidelines within the Code that interact with an Online Professional Community
- Participants will be able to explain the difference between disliking someone’s opinion and a potential code violation
- Participants will be able to explain The Do Better Collective community agreements
- Participants will be able to explain what to do if they encounter a potential Code violation within the Do Better Collective
- Participants will be able to identify and explain at least 1 research study relating to the importance of listening to learn.

I loved this course and appreciate the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally!
Thank you so much! Super informative course!
Thank you for taking the time to do this and offer our field a space to grow and collaborate. Ive been feeling grateful for individuals such as yourself and Ryan O who continue to do the work even when its super sticky. I hope I can continue the positive ripple.
I never felt like I fit into the “ABA mold” until I found this group. Thank you for creating a space that doesn’t revolve around spouting out ABA terms and demeaning others. This is so needed!
Thank you for the positive feedback. We are happy you are here and hopefully have a found a space that fits 🙂
Thank you so much for this! I am so excited about this community. I look forward to learning from everyone.
Thank you for watching! We are excited to have you here 🙂
This was great. Really informative as well as thought provoking. Thank you for putting that together. It was certainly a nice introductory event to get my feet wet in this community. 🙂
You are so very welcome! Thank you for the feedback!
Thank you for this!
Thank you for watching!
I really appreciated this review and reminder to be open to other opinions. I’ve been in other social media BCBA groups where people are judgmental and abrasive about their interpretation of ABA. I really love the idea that our field is changing, growing, admitting it’s mistakes and wanting to “do better”. I hope to continue grow and learn from other professionals through this platform!
Thank you for the positive feedback and reflection!
This was a fantastic presentation on flexible thinking and how to interact with others of different opinions and experiences! It really made me think about how I pose my own thoughts and opinions to others and how I can listen to learn instead of listen to respond. This is definitely something missing from the training of most new BCBAs and I hope to use many of your resources with my own supervisees in the future!
Thank you Leah! It is a constant learning process 🙂 Hopefully, we can help others learn more about these topics earlier in their careers or as students! We are excited to have you in the community!
Thank you Megan for the detailed presentation about the expectations and (the interpretation of) ethical guidelines. You did a great job in explaining the reason for each guideline and you underlined it with practical examples! This was very helpful for me to get an idea of the background and vision of dobettercollective. You made many points I agree with and which meet my personal professional goals and expectations. The course made me curious and I am motivated to learn and collaborate with the collective!! Looking forward to it!! Best, Sabrina
Thank you Sabrina! This is wonderful to hear. We are excited to have you in our community!
